Took me about 5 hours to assemble and yes, the picture instructions can be confusing but when you're done (and after going back a couple times) it is really an amazing little thing (AND I'm NOT calling it a "toy"). For the reviewer who couldn't "program it" you use the REMOTE CONTROL!. I have 3 grandsons across the country around the ages of 8-10 and now ALL of them are getting one. Yes, I am doing the assembly since I think I know how to do it now. The movements, voice, songs, dances, etc. are amazing and I don't think this one will be left in the toy box. I think these are terrific for the price!

We use this for STEM summer camps and have 10 - 25 kids aged 6 - 12 years old building their own robots at the same time. The end result is pretty satisfying. The kids like their robots and they stand up to a fair amount of wear-and-tear at least during camp. I talked to two kids from 2021 summer and both said their ReCos are still working after one year. Building it is challenging and kids do get frustrated. There are a couple sticky spots where the many kids make mistakes, have to backtrack and troubleshoot, but for our purposes that's okay. The instructions are picture only and on a few steps it's really hard to figure out what they depict. With our help, kids have the robot finished in about four hours of total worktime. My major complaint is that the wires connecting the speaker are incredibly delicate. If these break, they need to be soldered or ReCo won't make any noise. I always dread this step but ReCo will probably stick around at our robot camp for awhile.
